- Connecting to multiple data sources — pull data from Excel workbooks, CSV exports, and entire folders of monthly files into a single query, without touching the source files.
- Cleaning and reshaping GL exports automatically — handle inconsistent account codes, blank rows, and shifting column layouts with repeatable transformation steps, not one-off manual fixes.
- Automating monthly data refresh — set up queries so that dropping this month's export into a folder and clicking refresh is the entire month-end data step.
- Combining budget files and actuals from different sources — merge and append data cleanly, even when budget and actual files come from different systems with different structures.
- Query folding basics and performance — understand why some queries are fast and others crawl, and how to structure your steps so refreshes stay quick as your data grows.

This workshop is designed for finance shared services teams, management accountants, and anyone who owns a recurring monthly reporting process. You should be comfortable with everyday Excel; no prior Power Query experience is required. If your month-end starts with hours of copy-paste before any actual analysis can happen, this workshop is built to remove that step.
It pairs naturally with the Excel for Finance workshop, but stands on its own if data automation — not reporting layout — is your team's most pressing bottleneck.
