- Power Query for cleaning and transforming data — connect to messy GL exports, CSV dumps, and multi-tab Excel files. Remove blank rows, fix inconsistent account codes, and reshape data for pivot tables — all without a single formula.
- Dynamic arrays and XLOOKUP — replace VLOOKUP with XLOOKUP, use FILTER to create dynamic report tables, and understand why dynamic arrays change how you structure finance models.
- Pivot tables for management reporting — build pivot tables that survive source-data changes, group by account hierarchy, and format clearly for non-finance readers.
- Budgeting models that don't break — design budget templates with structured tables, data validation, and named ranges that your team can use without accidentally overwriting formulas.
- Data validation and error-checking — catch errors before the CFO does. Build in checks for missing data, sign errors, and totals that don't reconcile.
