Finance for Non-Finance Professionals

Grasping the fundamentals of financial management is a need for every business or functional head — not just the finance team. This interactive, case-study-driven programme gives executives, managers, and business owners a working understanding of financial statements, cash flow, cost behaviour, and the ratios that measure business performance.

Finance for Non-Finance Professionals workshop session

Read the numbers. Make better decisions because of them.

  • Overview: objectives vs. business unit financials — understand how corporate objectives connect to business unit financials, how activities link to resources, and the key financial terminology you need to follow a finance conversation.
  • Financial statements and cash flow — accounting principles explained through four simple categories; how to read the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet and how they relate; cash vs. profit; depreciation, accruals, prepayments, and provision for doubtful debts; and how to read a Cash Flow Statement.
  • Cash flow management — the liquidity cycle, working capital, and how stock management, credit management, and capital expenditure decisions each affect a business's cash position.
  • Costs and variances — cost behaviour (fixed, variable, and beyond), direct vs. indirect costs, absorption costing in a manufacturing context, and how to calculate material price, material usage, and overhead spending variances.
  • KPIs and ratio analysis — calculate and interpret the ratios that matter, and use them to evaluate business performance through real case studies.

Executives, managers, and business owners who need the numbers to make sense.

This workshop is designed for CEOs, entrepreneurs, and functional heads and managers — particularly in manufacturing and operations-driven businesses — who are not finance professionals but are responsible for financial decisions. No accounting background is required. The course is interactive throughout, using case studies, financial analysis exercises, and real business scenarios.

By the end, you will be able to read financial information with confidence, understand its impact on cash flow and cost structure, and use that understanding to make sharper business decisions.

In-house. Practical. Built for decision-makers.
